The reason you get up in the morning. The dreams you think about during the day. The last thought you reflect upon before you sleep. What’s holding you back from reaching your goals and dreams?
5 Things that are Holding You Back:
1-Attitude. Attitude has a smell to it. You don’t even have to use words for the people around you to sense what is going on in your head. You may try to excuse yourself, saying ‘I didn’t say this or that,’ but you probably expressed yourself in a way that other’s could sense what you were feeling. In order to have God’s promotion in your life, your attitude can’t stink, simple as that. Get it together and don’t be a victim. Philippians 2:14-15
2- Vision. In order to go anywhere in the natural, you have to be able to see ahead. Could you even fathom trying to drive, fly, or swim anywhere that you couldn’t see what was in front of you or where you were going? Then why would we try to get behind the steering wheel of our life without the same? Do you want to get somewhere worth going? Get some vision. Proverbs 29:18
3- Perspective. If the only point of view you can see is your own, then you are missing out on a very important part of the picture that God wants you to see. God is a God of compassion, love, and understanding, and those qualities can never be present in a person unwilling to view the situation from another person’s eyes. Ephesians 4:32, Matthew 7:3-5
4-Commitment. Passion, the last point on this list, is so very important. But it is worth nothing without the element of commitment. Already in my 30 years, I have seen many people come and go with enough passion to get them up Mount Everest, but a commitment level that wouldn’t even get them up Mount Cheaha. (Insert shoutout to the homestate here!) It is disheartening, because there is so much God wants to do through people who miss out on it because they lack faithfulness. If you can’t be committed, the amazing things God has in your heart won’t have nearly the impact God wants them to have for His Kingdom. He’s waiting on you to get committed. Psalm 37:5
5-Passion. In the quest to conquer everyday life, we can sometimes lose the element that gives our dreams their sparkle. We get burdened with the cares and worries that the Bible tells us makes our lives unfruitful. We can forget so quickly Jesus’ command to cast our care. Stir up the passion that makes you wake up with a twinkle in your eye and realize that your life, and the day you are living, are special and purposeful. Nobody has time for lukewarm Christianity. Mark 4:19, 1 Peter 5:7, Revelation 3:16
Behind all these doors, there’s advancement for you. God promises it! Galatians 6:9, Romans 2:6
I appreciate the scripture references relating to your points of this blog! I saved these so that I can refer to them more than once! Thanks!
I appreciate these points, Julia! It’s worth printing and sticking on something you look at everyday. Thanks so much for the reminders to stay focused on the things that help us be faithful and successful in our walk with Jesus.
